DIY Disney Inspired Costumes For Kids
1. DIY Prince Charming Costume
Cinderella’s Prince Charming is a classic Disney character that makes an adorable little boy costume. While Disney Princess costumes can be purchased at just about any store during Halloween, prince costumes are few and far between. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to make your own version with a few key pieces of clothing and fancy details.
2. DIY Snow White’s Prince Costume
An even easier prince costume to make is Snow White’s Prince. The bulk of the DIY is the blue tunic. I upcycled mine from a blue gift bag from Amazon.
3. DIY Jake & the Neverland Pirates Costume
Speaking of the blue Amazon bags, I also used them to make vests for Jake & the Neverland Pirates costumes. Add some white t-shirts, red bandannas and duct tape you’re all set.
We love Peter Pan and his gang, one of my earliest DIY costumes was a cute little Mr. Smee, Captain Hook’s bumbling side-kick! There is very little crafting involved in this costume and I love how easy it is to scale this costume from baby to adult! My youngest wore this costume at our very first Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland. Peter Pan is the perfect theme for family costumes at Disneyland or Walt Disney World.
Star Wars latest droid, BB-8 rivals R2-D2 in cuteness. This costume is easy to make but it is a little time consuming. It’s well worth the effort in my opinion. The bulk of the project is a white paper lantern and duct tape!
Everyone’s favorite snowman has been a super popular costume over the past few years. The costume base is a white hoodie sweatshirt embellished with craft supplies.
7. DIY Hank the Septopus Costume
Dory may be everyone’s favorite amnesiac fish but I think Hank stole the show in Finding Dory this summer. This Finding Dory costume also starts with a hoodie sweatshirt base.
Inside Out was a runaway hit last year, and the characters make for super fun costumes. Anger is another example of a super simple costume. Start with a pair of slacks and a white button-down shirt as a base. There is a little crafting involved for the tie and Anger mask but there is a template that makes it easy.
Last year we dressed in Inside Out themed costumes for Mickey’s Halloween Party. I was Bing Bong, my husband was Riley’s Imaginary Boyfriend but my favorite costume was my youngest’s DIY Fear Costume. His hat is the best!
10. DIY Dusty Crophopper Costume
Cardboard boxes are also great starting points for Halloween costumes. I made several airplane costumes from Disney Planes characters using boxes and duct tape. We’ve made Dusty Crophopper, El Chupacabra, Blade Ranger and Dipper costumes.
Bonus: DIY The Big Friendly Giant Costume
The BFG is not a classic Disney character but Disney did release an adorable movie version of Roald Dahl’s classic book this year, making him eligible for this DIY round up!
