As a big fan of Fox Restaurant Concepts and their uniquely themed eateries including Zinburger and Blanco Tacos & Tequila, I was anxious to experienced True Food Kitchen in Scottsdale, Arizona. I was in town with my dad and wanted to try one of the restaurants unavailable in Tucson.
Healthy Food Options
Having just made New Years resolutions to be healthier and try new things, the True Food Kitchen seemed like the perfect choice. Their dining concept was developed in conjunction with Dr. Andrew Weil and his anti-inflammatory diet for optimum health. They use high quality, locally sourced (as much as possible) food to create unique and healthy dishes.
You don’t have to be a die-hard Yogi to dine at True Food Kitchen. You need only a desire to give your body nutrients, and your palate something memorable.

The Food at True Food Kitchen
Initially, I was disappointed with my dad’s seemingly boring appetizer choice, the vegetable crudités. I changed my mind as soon as it arrived. It was full of fresh and interesting veggies and two completely different but equally delicious dips. I chose the trout for my entree, which was excellent but I think my dad’s choice, the buffalo burger with kale and sweet potato hash, was better.
They do not sell traditional soft drinks but offer their own freshly brewed teas, sodas and juice combinations. I highly recommend the pomegranate limeade, it was a delicious alternative for this Diet Coke addict. We finished the meal by sharing a chia seed (with coconut and banana) pudding. Again I wasn’t thrilled with my dad’s choice but he won or rather we won again because it turned out quite good. The texture was definitely different but it grew on me and I was scraping the bowl for the last few bites.
Kid-Friendly Dining in Scottsdale
I didn’t know if True Food Kitchen would be kid friendly, but it definitely wasn’t too stuffy for children and I did see kids dining while we were there. I know my boys would’ve been intrigued by purple and yellow cauliflower in our appetizer, plus they offer a kids’ menu.
