A visit to beautiful Red Rock Country is must for both Arizona families and tourists alike. The Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa in Sedona, Arizona is a nice, family friendly lodging option in the heart of Sedona.
What Works For Families
- A pool with kid features and water toys made it a hit with our boys.
- Suites are available with separate bedrooms, making bedtime easier with little ones.
- Kids (under 10) eat free at the Grille with adult meal purchase
- Wifi included in Resort Fee

What Doesn’t Work For Families
- Beyond the pool there are no other kid centered amenities at the resort.

The Hotel
The Hilton Sedona Resort features both a championship golf course and the only full service resort spa in Sedona. The closest major airport, Sky Harbor in Phoenix is under 2 hours away from the resort. Sedona is surrounded by 1.8 million acres of national forest land, perfect for hiking, biking, Sedona’s signature pink jeep tours. We enjoyed a special cowboy dinner show in nearby Cottonwood and highly recommend it.
The Rooms
We stayed in a spacious, one bedroom suite. The separate sleeping space allowed us to put our little boys to bed early while we relaxed in the living room. There was access to the bathroom via the bedroom and living area, making it a very convenient layout for families. Our room also had a nice little patio which would be enjoyable most of the year, just not in the middle of summer. All rooms offer a mini fridge and microwave which helps with late night snacks and restaurant leftovers.

The Grille at Shadow Rock is the hotel’s on site restaurant. It had a comfortable vibe, neither casual nor too fancy. The resort fee covers kids meals (under 10), when dining with an adult. We ate dinner one night on the patio and enjoyed the warm summer evening and delicious food. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options including hot entrees. Our only issue was with the red velvet pancakes that our son ordered off the menu. They were not traditional red velvet as he expected but made with beets instead. Unfortunately the menu didn’t indicate this and the waitress didn’t warn us. We found the situation really strange. Other than that our experience at the restaurant was good.
Additional Northern Arizona Ideas
After a trip to Sedona, I recommend a visit to the Grand Canyon via the train in Williams if possible. It’s a really fun way to travel to the canyon complete with cowboys that rob the train. During the holidays, you can also catch the Polar Express. While you’re in Williams, be sure to spend a few hours at Bearizona, a drive through zoo!
