We head to Phoenix a few times a year to check out fun attractions and sporting events. Cactus League spring training is a huge draw for visitors to Phoenix during March. We always gravitate towards spring training in Scottsdale but this year we opted to watch a game at the Peoria Sports Complex in the West Valley.
The Peoria Sports Complex is the Cactus League home of the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, and hosts a game almost every day in March. We caught a Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics game on the day we visited.
The complex just finished their phase two improvements, which included new stadium seats, restroom upgrades and additional field level seating. Our seats were very comfortable and walking around the park, it appeared everyone had a great view.
Phoenix lodging can be pricey during spring training but the Cactus League baseball tickets are very reasonable. The best deal in town is in Peoria with $5 lawn seats and $5 parking. Plus if you arrive early you can watch the teams at batting practice for free and get your favorite player’s autograph.
With a third phase of renovation, the value will be even better next year. A playground and splash pad will be added making Peoria the first spring training facility in Phoenix to offer a splash pad. While my kids happily attend one spring training game, I bet we could catch several games with the promise of popcorn, baseball and splash pad fun!

We rounded out our spring break fun with a visit to the Challenger Space Center Arizona and Musical Instrument Museum.
